“La Marqueta” Mural, East Harlem

During the spring of 2019, Camille Hoffman worked with students at Corsi Senior Center in East Harlem to produce a permanent mixed media mural for the center’s lobby. The mural pays homage to the neighborhood's historic marketplace, "La Marqueta", where many of the senior participants shopped and worked as young people. All materials are sourced from local dollar stores and bodegas in the community.

Camille Hoffman is a participant in SU-CASA. SU-CASA is a collaboration among the New York City Council, the Department of Cultural Affairs, the Department for the Aging and the City's five local arts councils. This program is administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and supported by public funds from the New York City Council in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department for the Aging.
